National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch For Bergen County from 12 Noon Today, July 12 through 12 Noon on Saturday, July 13.

Fair Lawn Emergency Management is continuing to monitor a rain event that will affect our area beginning this afternoon and through early Saturday morning. Current forecasts showing a slow moving front bringing showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals over the expected event will bring 1 inch with some isolated areas reaching 2 inches. Friday afternoon expected scattered showers with potential for isolated downpours into early evening. Friday night mostly cloudy with scattered showers and expected heavy rainfall approaching pre-dawn. Saturday morning scattered showers and dissipating as noon approaches. 

Runoff is expected to cause some flash flooding of small creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. Urban flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas is possible. 

If you experience a power outage, please call PSE&G directly at 1-800-436-7734.  Register for MyAlerts from PSE&G to report outages and receive text/email updates about the status of the power outage. Do not call the Police Department to report a power outage or to ask when power will be restored. 

Please be sure to take appropriate mitigation actions to protect flood prone properties. 

Fair Lawn Emergency Management will continue to monitor this weather event and will issue additional bulletins as necessary.​
