Red Flag Warning until 12:00AM Sunday
Persistent hot temperatures and low relative humidity values, along with forecast gusty winds, and drying fuels, favor critical fire weather conditions. The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM Saturday to midnight MDT Saturday night. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zone 118.
* WINDS...Westerly 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any existing or new fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and be difficult to contain. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: HELENA AND TOWNSEND RANGER DISTRICTS OF THE HELENA NATIONAL FOREST
Instructions:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in these areas of this Red Flag Warning.
