Phase 1 and Phase 2 work continues, roadway and sidewalk demolition has begun and will continue for the coming weeks.
Throughout the week of July 15th, in the north lane of Market Street, Upstate Companies will continue site grading for the installation of the new sidewalks. Curbing and sidewalk has been installed in the north side of Market Street from Rowe Auto Service to east side of the Broad Street intersection. Sidewalks currently under construction are along the north side of Market Street, beginning at Sidney Federal Credit Union and ending at the Chestnut Street. Drainage structures and piping will be installed between Broad Street and Chestnut Street. Conduit installation will continue for the relocation of the underground Verizon utilities. Pedestrians are encouraged to avoid sidewalks under construction, and use available, open sidewalks. Bicycle and vehicular traffic are to obey the recently added temporary traffic signals while there are active lane closures. Work limits will be approximately between Chestnut Street Extension and James Georgeson Ave.
NYSEG will also be in the area relocating/installing electric utilities in support of the Water Street improvements and construction of the new Transit Hub.
All businesses will remain open. Pedestrian and vehicular access to the businesses will be maintained at all times, as practicable. The public should continue to utilize the detour routes unless their destination is on Market Street.
