...NEW RED FLAG WARNING and FIRE WEATHER WATCH... .Extended through eastern Kern County and the Tehachapis. Then a Fire Weather Watch starting at 9a Saturday for Fire Weather Zone 597, which is mainly for the Tejon Pass area along I-5 and the high elevation communities of Pine Mountain Club and Frazier Park. The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 9 AM PDT Sunday.
* AFFECTED AREA...Southern Sierra Nevada from Kern County through Yosemite National Park.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Erratic wind gusts 40 to 50 mph in thunderstorm outflow.
* HUMIDITY...Minimum daytime humidity levels as 10% or less.
* THUNDERSTORMS...20-30% chance of thunderstorms - including dry lightning - each afternoon from Friday through Sunday. Less than a 10% chance of wetting rain with these storms. Thunderstorm potential is the greatest in the afternoon and evening on Saturday and Sunday
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly due to dry fuels. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* HIGHEST THREAT...Dry thunderstorms can ignite fire and create wind gust favorable for rapid fire spread.
* AFFECTED AREAS: INDIAN WELLS VALLEY ... KERN COUNTY DESERT ... TEHACHAPI AREA
