DUI Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Home
On 07/11/2024 at approximately 7:53 PM, the Petaluma Police Department Dispatch Center received numerous 911 calls regarding a vehicle that had crashed into a residence near the intersection of Caulfield Lane and South McDowell Boulevard. Officers arrived on scene and located a red Ford Mustang that had collided with the side of a nearby residence.
The vehicle sustained major damage, along with substantial exterior damage to the residence. The driver was located in the vehicle and displayed objective signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, alcohol was located in the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Angel Alegria-Vasquez, a 21-year-old Petaluma resident. Based on the complaints made by Vasquez, he was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
During the investigation, it was discovered through several witnesses, statements made, and evidence located at the scene that Vasquez had been driving recklessly prior to the collision over a number of city blocks and was believed to be intoxicated.
Vasquez was ultimately arrested after being treated and discharged from the hospital and was later booked into the Sonoma County Jail for DUI.
The resident that the vehicle collided with was at home at the time of the collision, but luckily was not harmed. The vehicle damaged nearby electrical boxes, which ceased power to nearby stoplights. The vehicle was ultimately impounded pursuant to his arrest.
