Update #2 Regarding Missing Person Ellie Lorenzo
This afternoon, detectives from Fremont met with detectives from the San Jose Police Department to debrief them on the initial missing person investigation of Ellie Lorenzo. Going forward, the San Jose Police Department will lead the homicide investigation. However, the Fremont Police Department will continue to support Ellie's family and assist San Jose in any way possible with the investigation.
Statement from our Police Chief Sean Washington: “Our department is saddened to learn Ellie has not survived. Our hearts are heavy for Ellie’s family, and we will continue to support them during this difficult time. I want to thank all the members of our department and allied agencies who worked tirelessly throughout the night to try to bring Ellie home safely. On behalf of our department and community, please keep everyone impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.”
We would like to thank the community and our collaborating agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, San Francisco Police Department, San Jose Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies in the area, for assisting in the search for Ellie. Of course, this is not the outcome we had hoped for. Our thoughts are with Ellie’s family during this time of tragedy.
