* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Boone, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Lake IL, Lee, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Ogle, Southern Cook, Southern Will and Winnebago and northwest Indiana, including the following areas, Lake IN and Porter.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. Extensive street flooding possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Another round of torrential rain producing thunderstorms is expected this evening, which may cause flash flooding. With portions of far northern Illinois having observed widespread flash flooding on Saturday night, additional heavy rain will likely cause rapid water rises and the potential for renewed significant flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Persons with interests along area rivers, creeks, and other waterways should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Now is the time to take action to reduce the impact to life and property from possible flooding. Move valuables from flood-prone areas such as basements and poor drainage areas. Know alternate routes for travel should roadways or railways become flooded.
