Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle crash on M62 Hwy and Indian Lake Rd. Silver Creek Township, Cass County Michigan, at approximately 1231 hours on 07/14/24.  The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Daniel French (49 years old from Dowagiac, MI) was traveling eastbound on M62 when a vehicle traveling Northbound on Indian Lake Rd failed to yield the right of way causing French to avoid a traffic crash and struck an embankment. Also in the vehicle were passengers Lucas French (11) and Emily French (12). All three subjects was transported by SMCAS Ambulance to Niles Lakeland Hospital for injuries sustained in the traffic crash. Assisting agencies on scene were Indian Lake Fire Department and Pokagon Tribal Police. All three subjects were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
