Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé seeks the public’s assistance in identifying the below-pictured suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
At approximately 6:10 a.m., a woman walking on Ferry Street near Union Street was approached by a Black male who snatched the victim’s purse. In the process of removing her purse, the suspect dragged the victim into the street where she fell and was injured. She was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
A second suspect pointed a handgun at a witness who attempted to intervene. Both suspects fled into a black Mazda SUV at Ferry Street and Union Street.
Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying these suspects. Suspect 1 is described as thin with a dark complexion. He wore a black sweat jacket, pants, and black and white sneakers. Suspect 2 is also described as a thin, Black male with a dark complexion, wearing white sneakers, blue shorts with pants underneath, and a black hooded sweatshirt. Suspect 3, the driver of the black Mazda SUV, did not exit the vehicle.
