Wilmington Police arrest man on gun charges.
On July 11, at approximately 7:06 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 2800 block of North Market Street, when they observed a male subject acting in a suspicious manner. Police made contact with 25-year-old Mayhew Watson, who was found to be wanted on an outstanding capias. Watson was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.
Watson has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding capias:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,000 cash-only bail.
