Severe Thunderstorm Warning

National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for our area. What we know: * Until 915 PM CDT. * At 801 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Rockton to Rockford Airport to near Davis Junction to near Ashton, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Locations impacted include... Aurora, Rockford, Elgin, DeKalb, Bartlett, Crystal Lake, Carpentersville, St. Charles, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, West Chicago, McHenry, Batavia, Belvidere, Woodstock, Huntley, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Geneva, Sycamore, Campton Hills, Roscoe, Fox Lake, Harvard, and Island Lake. Instructions Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for north central and northeastern Illinois.
