 The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JULY 8, 2024:
 
4:38 AM Officer Williams located a person asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle at Thornton Avenue & Olive Street. The 45-year-old male driver was determined to be on probation and located with narcotics and firearm accessories. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of a stun gun, ammunition, and possession of misappropriated property.
 
1:46 PM Community Services Officer (CSO) Lau investigated multiple reports of stolen vehicle license plates in the areas of Dairy Avenue & Bonnie Street, and Cedar Boulevard & Breton Drive.
 
5:53 PM CSO Lau investigated a package theft near Blackburn Drive & Lake Boulevard.
 
8:42 PM Officer Soto recovered a stolen vehicle on Dumbarton Court.
 
8:51 PM Officer Dale investigated a license plate theft near Sycamore Street & Graham Avenue.  
 
8:59 PM Officer Soto responded to a disturbance near Thornton Avenue & Cherry Street. A 36-year-old female was arrested for domestic battery and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:50 PM Vehicle Abatement Officer Heckman recovered a stolen vehicle near Olive Street & Thornton Avenue.
 
11:20 PM Officers investigated a carjacking near Cherry Street & Lafayette Avenue.
 
TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2024:
 
5:26 AM Officer Dale investigated a vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & Mowry Avenue. The rear locks of the vehicle were forced open. Loss included various power and industrial work tools.
 
9:15 AM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & Moores Avenue. The windows were shattered, resulting in a loss of various power tools.
 
3:16 PM Vehicle Abatement Officer Heckman recovered a stolen vehicle near Carter Avenue & Filbert Street.
 
WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 2024:
 
1:29 PM Officer C. Torres conducted a security check of Sycamore & Filbert Streets and located a 53-year-old male in possession of narcotics and an outstanding warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
3:20 PM CSO Mora investigated a theft of a bike at Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard. The bike lock was discovered broken.
 
5:53 PM Officer Losier investigated a theft at Newpark Mall Road. A 26-year-old male was cited for shoplifting.
 
7:11 PM CSO Mora investigated a vehicle burglary near Joaquin Murieta Avenue & Cherry Street. The front window was shattered, and various electronics accessories were taken.
 
7:32 PM Officer Losier located an intoxicated person wandering on Thornton Avenue & Newark Boulevard. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication.
 
THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2024:
 
2:43 AM Officer Dale recovered a stolen vehicle on Marshlands Road.
 
6:43 AM Officer Herrera investigated multiple vehicle burglaries near Levi Street & Truckee Court. The vehicles were discovered with shattered windows. Reported loss included a first aid kit and miscellaneous currency.
 
9:10 AM Officer McCuin recovered a stolen vehicle near Inverness & Burning Tree Drives.
 
9:34 AM Officers responded to a fight in progress near Cedar Boulevard & Magazine Street. A 28-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault, robbery, and battery. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:38 AM Vehicle Abatement Officer Heckman recovered a stolen vehicle near Spruce Street & Wentworth Place.
 
11:28 AM Officer McCuin investigated a vehicle theft near Mulberry Street & Thornton Avenue.
 
2:13 PM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle license plate theft near Buena Vista & Potrero Drives.
 
4:43 PM CSO Mora recovered a stolen vehicle near Mandarin Avenue & Aleppo Drive.
 
4:45 PM Officer C. Torres responded to a disturbance near Dumbarton Court and Jarvis Avenue. A 42-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for a bench warrant and possession of narcotics.
 
6:15 PM Officer Lor responded to a disturbance near Sunset Avenue & Locust Street. A 44-year-old male and 34-year-old female were arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for corporal injury.
 
10:17 PM Officers responded to a fight near Cedar Court & Cedar Boulevard. A 22-year-old male was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and an outstanding warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2024:
 
7:10 AM Officer Herrera recovered a stolen vehicle near Mayhews Landing Road & Buckeye Street.
 
7:44 AM Officer McCuin investigated a residential burglary near Thornton Avenue & Arden Street. A rear shed was broken into with the loss of a lawnmower, power washer, and landscaping tools.
 
9:41 AM Officer Medina conducted a pedestrian stop on a suspicious person. Upon investigation, a 59-year-old male was discovered with an outstanding felony warrant and booked into Santa Rita jail.
 
7:19 PM Officers conducted a welfare check near Cedar Boulevard & San Antonio Street. A 34-year-old male was located with an outstanding warrant and released on scene with a citation.
 
8:10 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a theft near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard. A 43-year-old female was arrested for shoplifting and narcotics. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SATURDAY, JULY 13, 2024:

4:19 AM Officer Williams attempted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle driving erratically near I-880 & Newark Boulevard. Upon investigation, the vehicle was determined to be stolen. A neighboring agency assisted with recovery of the vehicle.
 
5:53 AM Officers responded to Indian Wells Drive & Bettencourt Street for an active vandalism. A 41-year-old male was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
5:25 PM CSO Vuong investigated multiple vehicle burglaries near Cedar Boulevard & Mirabeau Drive and Humpback Whale Road & Grasshopper Avenue. One vehicle’s rear door lock was cut resulting in the loss of furniture, clothing, and electronics accessories. Another vehicle was observed with a shattered window. Loss included sunglasses, personal items, and registration paperwork.
 
2:57 PM CSO Mora investigated a package theft near Levi Street & Rubicon Avenue.
 
SUNDAY, JULY 14, 2024:
 
2:56 AM Officer Lara responded to a report of an intoxicated person near Biddle Avenue & Ruschin Drive. A 40-year-old male was arrested for battery and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
3:50 AM Officer Soto responded to a report of a large group congregating near Cherry Street & George Avenue. A 23-year-old female was arrested for battery, public intoxication, and a violation of probation terms. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:45 AM Officer Orozco investigated a theft near Cedar & Stevenson Boulevards. A 62-year-old female was arrested for shoplifting and an outstanding warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
9:43 AM Officers investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Normandy Drive & Provance Street. Loss included a backpack containing sports equipment.
 
9:57 AM Officer Kim responded to a report of a suspicious person at Newpark Mall Road. A 42-year-old male was arrested with an outstanding bench warrant, and released on scene with a citation.
