One man died in early Wednesday morning fatal crash on I40 East.

DETAILS: On 7/17/24, Officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of E IH40 on a vehicle vs. Semi head-on collision. Nicholas Bechthold, male, age 34, was driving a 2018 Chevy Silverado Westbound in the Eastbound lanes of IH40. The Silverado collided with a semi-truck that was traveling Eastbound. Bechthold was pronounced deceased at the scene. Potter County Justice of the Peace G. Jackson responded and ordered an autopsy. The Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the incident.
