Alert
Today marks the last day of our oppressive heat wave. Rounds of storms later this afternoon and into the early evening before gradually ending overnight. Watch for perhaps some pop ups after 2 or 3 PM, though the main event likely holds off until closer to the 4 - 8 PM window. With the environment being sufficient enough, storms have a higher than normal likelihood of sustaining themselves, bringing damaging wind gusts over 55 mph, as well as perhaps isolated small hail in strongest development. There is also a concern for urbanized flooding, given high moisture content and a potential for storms to be sluggish and longer lasting. Even localized higher impacts are possible should any storms develop closer to rush hour. We then see a cooler and drier airmass take over by Thursday morning.
