Narrative:
The Thousand Oaks Detective Bureau, Property Crimes Unit conducted a month-long investigation into multiple thefts from vehicles in the city of Thousand Oaks.
 
On June 1, 2024, two suspects committed over 20 thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Conejo Hills neighborhood of Thousand Oaks.  The suspects stole cash, credit cards, personal identifying information, and personal items.  The suspects then used the stolen credit cards at various locations in the city of Los Angeles. 
 
Detectives obtained evidence from various locations, suspect descriptions, and the vehicle used by the suspects.  Through investigative techniques, detectives identified the suspects as Kevin Cruz and Axel Reyes.  Detectives authored a search warrant for the residence of Cruz. 
 
On July 15, 2024, detectives located Reyes and Cruz at their residences.  Both suspects were arrested for numerous charges related to the crime spree.  During the execution of the search warrant at Cruz’ residence, evidence from the crime spree was located.
 
Cruz was booked into the Ventura County Jail for theft, identity theft, criminal conspiracy, and possession of personal information.  Reyes was booked into the Ventura County Jail for theft, identity theft, and criminal conspiracy.  Both Cruz and Reyes remain in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail each.
