POST BERYL RECOVERY UPDATE - 7/17 - 6PM

Thank you all for your incredible patience and teamwork in the aftermath of the hurricane. Your collective efforts have been vital in helping our community recover and rebuild. As we continue with our recovery efforts, here are a few important reminders for our citizens:

  • BE PERSISTENT WHEN APPLYING FOR ASSISTANCE - don't let a rejection deter you, apply again, word things differently, add more details, but don't give up!
  • Disaster Assistance - residents of Brazoria County can apply for FEMA Disaster Assistance online at Home | disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362
  • Report Damage - report all hurricane damage here iSTAT Damage Surveys (texas.gov) , input is crucial to help our community and its residents receive assistance and resources
  • Water Issues - we are aware that water is discolored and has an odor, but BWA has assured us it is safe for consumption and they are hoping to have the issue resolved within the week
  • Debris Pickup - we have finally received our permit to dump from TCEQ so all trucks will be rolling at 7am tomorrow, please be patient as they make their way through the city, they will make several passes over the next few weeks
  • Debris Placement - DO NOT place debris on or near fire hydrants, manholes, utility meters, poles or trees as this will slow down the process and/or cause more of a problem than the debris itself
  • Debris (logs, branches, leaves, etc.) - keep separated from all other trash and do not place bagged leaves with debris
  • Debris Location - do not place debris on or near manholes, fire hydrants, gas or water meters, poles or trees
  • Bagged Leaves - may be placed with household garbage on your second pickup day of the week, Thursday or Friday depending on your zone
  • Fencing/Construction Material/etc. - must be separated from debris, normal heavy trash and household trash
  • Household trash - running on regular schedule
  • Heavy trash - is being picked up,  please limit what you are putting out if you can
  • The Fitness Center & B.R. Hester Building - will resume regular hours on Friday, 7/19
  • Permits - all fees are waived for permits for storm-related repairs including electrical, plumbing, construction and fences
  • Water Bills - all late fees are waived and there will be no disconnects for the month of July. Payment arrangements are available if needed, call City Hall for assistance
We appreciate  your patience during this recovery process.  Please remember, this race to recovery is a marathon, not a sprint!
