Deputies Respond to Hospital for Man who was Shot; Suspect is Later Arrested on Several Charges

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at approximately  3:30 p.m.

INCIDENT: P.C 245(a)(2)- Assault With a Firearm, P.C 29800(a)(1), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, P.C 30305(a)(1) Felon in Possession of Ammunition 

LOCATION: 2700 block of Macy Street, Muscoy. 

SUSPECT(S): Abraham Nunez, 41-year-old resident of San Bernardino  

VICTIM(S): CONFIDENTIAL


SUMMARY: On Friday, July 12, 2024, deputies with Sheriff's Central Station responded to San Bernardino Community Hospital in reference to a male victim who suffered from a gunshot wound. Deputies contacted the victim and learned he was involved in an altercation with Abraham Nunez at a residence in the 2700 block of Macy Street, Muscoy, an unincorporated area of San Bernardino. During the altercation, Nunez retrieved a firearm and shot the victim one time in the back. 

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, deputies assigned to Central Station's Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) located Nunez at a residence in San Bernardino. MET deputies took Nunez into custody without incident and served a search warrant on the associated residence.

Deputies requested assistance from the San Bernardino County Probation Department's K9 unit. Probation Officer Jose Herrera and his firearm detection K9 partner "Koa" responded to the residence. Koa alerted on a satchel inside of Nunez' bedroom, which contained a loaded 40 caliber handgun. 

Nunez was arrested for P.C 245(a)(2)- Assault With a Firearm, P.C 29800(a)(1), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and P.C 30305(a)(1) Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Nunez was booked into the Central Detention Center where he is being held on $1,330,000.00 bail.
