Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help identifying the suspects pictured below, who robbed a woman on July 14, 2024.
The robbery occurred at approximately 6:10 am. when the victim was unlocking the gate to the restaurant where she worked on Ferry Street. The suspects, all Black males, were in a stolen Mazda SUV when one of them exited the vehicle and approached the victim from behind. He snatched her purse, pulling and dragging her to the ground until he was able to take her bag containing a wallet with $40 and a cell phone.
A witness tried to intervene but was unable to help the victim after another suspect pulled out a gun. Responding officers contacted Emergency Medical Services to take the victim to University Hospital. The two suspects fled in the Mazda SUV, which was later recovered. The suspects also were involved in another robbery in the 100 block of Elm Street.
Suspect #1 is a Black male with a thin build and dark complexion. He wore a black sweatjacket, pants, and black/white sneakers. Suspect two is also a Black male with a thin build and dark complexion. He wore white sneakers, blue shorts, a black hoodie, and pants underneath.
Suspect #3 was the driver but did not exit the vehicle during the incident. Two additional possible suspects pictured below were at the scene when the Mazda was stolen on July 13, 2024.
