Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé seeks the public’s assistance in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
At approximately 8:55 p.m., the suspect left Wendy’s, located in the 300 block of West Market Street, with approximately five others. All six individuals surrounded the victim, asking her for the time. The suspect attacked the victim while she was looking at her cell phone to check the time and another suspect took her phone.
Detectives investigating this incident describe Suspect #1 as a black male wearing a black T-shirt with a white design in the center and dark colored shorts. Suspect #2, who took the phone, is described as a slim black male wearing all black clothing (no photo is available).
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
