Intermittent CLOSURES to I-55 in both directions for ComEd repairs today, July 21, 2024.

ComEd is continuing to repair high-tension power lines over I-55 after damage from an EF-2 tornado on July 15th.
To facilitate those repairs, I-55 will be intermittently CLOSED for periods of approximately 15 mintures. A total of approximately 12 full stops may be necessary to complete the work.
Beginning at 11:00AM, July 21, traffic control set-up will begin, reducing lanes of traffic between US Rt. 6 and Arsenal Rd.
At approximately 2:00PM, July 21, full stops of traffic on I-55 will begin and access to I-55 southbound from Bluff Rd. will be CLOSED during those stops.
This work is estimated to last 12 hours. A helicopter will be assisting with the work and may be observed flyer at low altitudes.
Please find alternte routing to avoid potential back-ups.
