Flood Advisory until 02:15PM
* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Crockett and Sutton.
* WHEN...Until 215 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1109 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Sonora, The Intersection Of I-10 And Ranch Road 1989, The Intersection Of Us-277 And Ranch Road 189, Us-277 Near The Sutton-Edwards County Line, I-10 Near The Crockett-Sutton County Line and The Intersection Of Highway 163 And Ranch Road 1973. - This includes Interstate 10 between Mile Markers 372 and 424. Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
