Deputies Arrest Attempted Murder Suspect After Responding to a Request for A Well Check
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 21, 2024, at approximately 5:10 a.m.
INCIDENT: PC 664/187 - Attempted Murder
LOCATION: 1600 Block of Lillyhill Drive
SUSPECT(S): Christopher Smuts, 36 Years Old, Resident of Needles. CA
VICTIM(S): CONFIDENTIAL
SUMMARY: On July 21, 2024, at approximately 5:10 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Lillyhill Drive in reference to a report of a welfare check and possible domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim and the suspect, Christopher Smuts, at the residence. During the investigation, deputies determined evidence of attempted murder, domestic violence, and false imprisonment existed.
Christopher Smuts was consequently arrested for attempted murder, dometic violence, and false imprisonment, and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Smuts remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $1,000,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
