Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Responds to Commercial Fire
Case Number: ROH-24002991
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rohnert Park, CA — On July 22, 2024, at approximately 10:15 PM, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Dispatch Center received a call from an alarm company reporting a burglary alarm activation at 5700 Commerce Blvd, a commercial strip mall housing five separate businesses.
While officers were en-route, a subsequent call from the alarm company reported a fire alarm at the same location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a partially ajar roll-up door at the rear of the building, with smoke coming from inside. As officers looked under the door, they could see a work van fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the ceiling and roof structures.
Fire personnel from Rohnert Park DPS, Rancho Adobe Fire, Gold Ridge Fire, and Santa Rosa Fire responded and brought the fire under control within approximately one hour. The blaze caused significant damage to two businesses and smoke affected three others. The rapid and aggressive firefighting efforts successfully contained the fire, preventing further spread. The damage to the structure and property loss is estimated to be $1 million dollars.
There were no reported injuries to fire personnel or the public. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
