Youth Baseball Snack Bar Ravaged by Vandals

Rohnert Park, CA — On July 22, 2024, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Dispatch Center received a call regarding smoke seen coming from the Snack Bar at Benicia Park, located at 7471 Bernice Ave in Rohnert Park.  When fire personnel arrived on scene, they found an active fire in the snack bar.  Staff from the Cal Ripken Baseball League arrived on scene and pointed out several locks that had been cut off, intentional vandalism, and reported hundreds of dollars of stolen merchandise including candy, soda, chips, keys, and other miscellaneous food items, not to mention the extensive damage to the electronics.

The fire and suppression efforts cause moderate damage to the snack bar which resulted in an estimated loss of $75,000.  This fire is being investigated as arson and more follow up and evidence analysis is being conducted.
