Public Safety Announcement from the Petaluma Police Department

During these past several months, there have been instances locally and globally that have created discord within our communities. We encourage people to come together and learn from each other and hope to create a common ground where we can look to the things that bring us together. This is never more apparent than when the Olympics take center stage.

In the spirit of the Olympics, we can embody the heart of the athletes and spectators who cheer on their nations. Different flags, different languages but a common goal to embrace national pride while respecting the cultural differences and the competitive similarities.

Violence and violent rhetoric are serious issues that affects us all. It undermines our safety, disrupts our neighborhoods, and damages the trust and unity we share. We must work together to prevent violence by fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and nonviolent conflict resolution. If you see or experience violence, report it to the authorities immediately. Let's stand united against violence and create a peaceful, safe environment for everyone. Your voice and actions make a difference. Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community.
