DEP Issued Do-Not-Use Water Order - July 23, 2024

The DPW Water Division is actively investigating an issue with the drinking water in the area of Heywood Avenue. If you are located in the area between Colony Road to the west and Lowell Street to the east and Cold Spring Avenue to the north and Memorial Avenue to the south MassDEP has implemented a Do-Not-Use Order for this entire area.

DO NOT CONSUME OR USE TAP WATER

If you are in the affected area you are advised to not consume or use tap water :

  • Lowell Street
  • Windsor St
  • Bosworth St
  • Baldwin St
  • Norman St
  • Allston Ave
  • Heywood Ave
  • Roanoke Ave
  • Cold Spring Ave
  • Colony Rd
  • York St
  • Exposition Terrace
  • Exposition Ave
  • River Street
  • Area of Memorial Ave From Lowell Street to Colony Rd
You will be informed when the Do-Not-Use order is lifted or when new information is available.  The Do-Not-Use order will be in effect until the Town receives water quality testing results.  We anticipate that this will last for at least forty-eight (48) hours, pending test results.  

Affected Residents Accommodations: 

Drinking Water Availability Accommodations Located at 44 Van Deene Ave: 
  • Residents are able to access bottled water from The West Springfield Fire Department located at 44 Van Deene Ave, West Springfield, MA 01089 
  • All Residents are currently getting 10 bottles of water and must provide identification that shows they live in the affected area.
  • Residents who need continued support can call the West Springfield Fire Department non-emergency line at 413-263-3221 and we will schedule a delivery of water.

Hygiene Availability Accommodations Located at 425 Piper Rd:
  • Sady Pool Entrance Located at 425 Piper Rd For Showers will be open to residents at the following hours: 
  • Wednesday July 24th 6am-9am and Thursday July 25th 6am-9am
  • Residents who need continued support can call the Mayor's Office at 413-263-3041 and we will schedule a time for them to be transported to Sady Pool.
