On Saturday July 27, 2024 and Sunday July 28, 2024, the annual Newark Holy Ghost Festival will be occurring. Parades will be held on both days causing several road closures within the City of Newark. Residents and visitors are advised to use alternate routes (including trucks) to prevent delays to their destinations. 

The following roads will be closed on Saturday July 27, 2024 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

• Cherry Street northbound only from Plummer Avenue to Thornton Avenue
• Galletta Drive
• Plummer Avenue between Galletta Drive and Arden Street

 
The following roads will be closed on Sunday, July 28, 2024 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

• Thornton Avenue (all lanes) between Cherry Street and Newark Boulevard
• Cherry Street northbound only from Plummer Avenue to Thornton Avenue
• Newark Boulevard from Thornton Avenue to Dairy Avenue
• Arden Street at Thornton Avenue

Trucks:
 
Saturday, 7/27/24: All trucks that normally travel on northbound Cherry Street to Thornton Avenue are advised to use Central Avenue.
 
Sunday, 7/28/24: All trucks that normally travel eastbound and westbound on Thornton Avenue are advised to use southbound Cherry Street to Central Avenue
