Detective Kyle Gibson charged 34-year-old Shane Donovan McKinney of Marion with felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and felony Hit and Run Inflicting Serious Injury. McKinney received a $50,000 secured bond.
On June 24th deputies with the Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the NC SHP responded to the 4500 block of Sugar Hill Road for a reported hit and run of a pedestrian walking along the roadway. A male victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and the suspect’s vehicle left the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival. The investigation determined the act was intentional and stemmed from a prior dispute between McKinney and the victim.
