On July 25, 2024, officers from the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and the Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) were conducting a human trafficking operation along East Holt Avenue in the city of Pomona, CA. During the operation, a traffic stop was conducted on a sex purchaser. When officers contacted the driver they discovered an eight-month-old child in the backseat of the purchaser's vehicle. The child was safely removed from the vehicle, and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was immediately contacted. The child was unharmed, and the father is cooperating with the investigation.
The father of the child was 30 year old Juan Hernandez of Pomona. Hernandez was arrested for 647(b) PC – Prostitution, and faces the additional charge of 273a(b) PC – Child Endangerment. The child was released to DCFS.
The investigation is ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time.
