SMPD Detective Bureau Serves Search Warrant, Arrest Made in Connection with Child Sexual Abuse Material

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, at about 7:00 AM, the Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau served a search warrant in the 1300 block of Marie Ct. This action resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Santa Maria resident Jesus Alejandro Bautista Lopez.
This investigation began when X Corp (Twitter) submitted a report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding an incident involving the possession and transmission of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using their service. This report indicated a violation of Penal Code 311.11(a) and was forwarded to the SMPD Detective Bureau.
Through diligent investigative work, the suspect’s location was determined to be in the 1300 block of Marie Ct. A search warrant was executed at this address this morning leading to Lopez’ arrest. Pursuant to the search warrant, Lopez was found to possess hundreds of CSAM files on his electronic/personal devices.
Further investigation revealed that Lopez had engaged in sexual acts with his dog that resulted in an additional charge under Penal Code 286.5(a).
Lopez was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on the following charges and held on $100,000 dollars bail:
