On 07/26/24 at approximately 12:16 AM, a Janesville Police officer responded to the area of Milton Ave and Black Bridge Rd for a traffic complaint of a vehicle speeding and driving recklessly.
A Janesville Police Officer located the vehicle and was almost struck by it. The officer attempted to turn around and stop the vehicle but it fled at a high rate of speed before the officer could initiate a pursuit. The vehicle crashed in the area of Benton Ave and Harding St.
The driver later identified as Cedric A. Dukes fled the crash scene. RCSO assisted with a K9 track and a drone. The subject was located in the 300 block of E Memorial Dr inside of a residence. RCSO K9 assisted in apprehending Dukes.
Dukes displayed signs of being under the influence and refused standardized field sobriety testing. Dukes refused to submit to a legal blood draw, so a search warrant was drafted. It was approved and signed by a judge. A legal blood draw was taken from Dukes. The results are pending.
