INCIDENT: Suspected Kidnapping
LOCATION: Sourwood Way and Cloudberry Drive, Unincorporated Rialto
VICTIM: 16-year-old female
SUMMARY: On Friday, July 26, 2024, at about 8:42 p.m., Fontana deputies were notified a female screamed and was forced into a white van in the area of Sourwood Way and Cloudberry Drive, in the unincorporated area of Rialto, known as Rosena Ranch. Initial information appeared to corroborate the observations of the reporting party. The involved vehicle was described as a white van and a partial license plate number was provided. No description of the victim or suspect(s) was initially available.
Deputies utilized every possible resource, including the Fontana Police Department’s helicopter, to locate the potential victim. Through thorough investigation, deputies located a resident who reported a teenage female was picked up by a family member in a similar vehicle. Deputies located the involved parties and vehicle. It was later determined the juvenile was not kidnapped. The circumstances, while initially suspicious in nature, were not criminal, and she was unharmed.
Deputies would like to thank the members of the public who provided video surveillance and information which was crucial to a successful outcome.
