Deputy serving court paperwork nets arrest of two.
On July 27, 2024, at 6:33 p.m. Deputy Michael Owens went to the 600 block of North Race Street in Princeton to serve a Protective Order on 19 year old Tommy Payne of Princeton. Upon arriving at the residence Deputy Owens detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the residence. Upon knocking on the door 21 year old Isaiah Jones of Vincennes and Mr. Payne came to the door. Once Mr. Jones opened the door the odor of Marijuana became stronger. At that point Deputy Owens began a drug investigation. During the investigation Mr. Payne physically began to resist officers on scene. At that point both Mr. Jones and Mr. Payne were placed into custody. At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Owens had both individuals transported to the Gibson County Jail.
Tommy Payne was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Law Enforcement.
Isaiah Jones was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
Assisting Officers were Sgt. Loren Barchett and Michael Bates of the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office. Also assisting were Princeton Officers David Jones and Bryce Jutzi.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
