INCIDENT: H&S 11378 - Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale
LOCATION: 1000 block of River Rd, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): William Porter, 45 Years Old, Resident of Bullhead City, AZ
Gregory Basford, 60 Years Old, Resident of Arcadia, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 5:36 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department came in contact with William Porter and Gregory Basford during a call for service of a reported boat fire. During the investigation, deputies learned that Basford was on probation. A probation search of the vehicle was conducted and deputies located suspected methamphetamines, a large amout of cash, and drug paraphernalia, all consistant with drug sales.
As a result, William Porter and Gregory Basford were both arrested for H&S 11378 - Possession of Controlled Substance for Sale. Porter was transported and booked into the Colorado River Station jail with a bail amount of $30,000.00. Porter remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, awaiting a court hearing. Basford was transported to a nearby medical facility for evaluation. While at the medical facility, Basford was issued a citation and released from the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a future court date.
