Traffic Stop leads to arrest of a convicted felon in possession of a pistol and drugs. 

San Mateo, CA – On July 30, 2024, at 11:38 p.m., a San Mateo Police Officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a car that had expired registration and failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of East Hillsdale Boulevard and Curtis Street. 
 
While officers were speaking to the driver of the car, Ulisis Contreras-Gomez, officers observed drugs inside the vehicle.  Officers asked Contreras-Gomez to exit the vehicle to investigate.  Contreras-Gomez began to resist and refused to follow the orders and directions of officers.  Contreras-Gomez was placed under arrest for resisting a peace officer.  During a search of Contreras-Gomez’s car officers found suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, and evidence of narcotic possession for sale.  Officers also located a loaded 9mm pistol and additional ammunition.  A records check of Contreras-Gomez show he was previously convicted of a felony and is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. 
 
Contreras-Gomez was transported and booked into San Mateo County Jail for multiple firearm and drug related charges.

11351 HS- Possess narcotic/controlled substance for sale, 11370.1(a) HS- Possess controlled substance while armed with loaded firearm, 29800(a)(1) PC- Felon possess firearm, 25400(a)(1) PC- Carry concealed weapon in vehicle, 30305(a)(1) PC- Prohibited person possess ammunition, 11350(a) HS- Possess narcotic, 11377(a) HS- Possess controlled substance, 148(a)(1) PC- Resist a peace officer.
