Press Release: Male Juveniles identified in Bias Incident in Interlaken
DATE: 8-1-24
LOCATION: Bridlemere Ave, Borough of Interlaken
ACCUSED: Male Juvenile, Age 12, Long Branch, NJ
NARRATIVE:
On July 19, 2024 at approximately 0835 hours, the Deal Police Department was made aware of an act of vandalism that had occurred at a residence located on Bridlemere Ave in the Borough of Interlaken. Officers responded and discovered the incident to be bias in nature and as a result, a full and comprehensive investigation was immediately started by our agency.
The accused was identified as a 12-year-old male juvenile out of Long Branch. When contacted by police, the juvenile and his mother voluntarily reported to headquarters and fully cooperated with the investigation. The second juvenile was also identified but did not directly participate in the act. Due to the suspects age, lack of criminal history, and cooperation with police, he was entered into a comprehensive diversionary program. If any elements of the program are not completed to the satisfaction of the police department and/or victim(s), the male juvenile will face criminal charges.
The Deal Police Department will investigate any suspected or confirmed bias Incident to the fullest extent of the law. We serve a very diverse community and take these incidents very seriously. We want to thank the Interlaken community for their assistance during this investigation and encourage everyone to report these incidents to the Deal Police Department right away.
