Red Flag Warning until 08:00PM Friday

...DRY THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING... .Thunderstorms may develop over Southern California today and move northward toward the Kern County Mountains this afternoon and evening. The thunderstorms will be possible for the southern and central Sierra Nevada through Friday early evening. The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 8 PM PDT Friday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 298, 299, 593, 594, 595, 596, and 597.

* WIND...Light under 10 mph terrain driven wind with diurnal directional changes. Gusty erratic winds in and near thunderstorms.

* HUMIDITY...10 to 20 percent for the lower elevations each afternoon. 20 to 30 percent for the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Isolated thunderstorms are probable over the Kern County Mountains, Kern County Desert, and the Sierra Nevada. Frequent lightning will accompany any thunderstorms.

* HIGHEST THREAT...Lightning and gusty and erratic winds from any thunderstorms.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: INDIAN WELLS VALLEY ... KERN COUNTY DESERT ... NORTH KINGS RIVER ... SEQUOIA KINGS ... LAKE ISABELLA ... TEHACHAPI AREA ... FORT TEJON
