Full Notification

On 8/1/24 at approximately 1000 hours, SVPD Officers responded Code 3 to the area of Bridget Ave. and Heywood St. for an alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon involving a gun.  As officers arrived on scene, they located the suspect in a Grey Infiniti and ordered him out of his vehicle.  The suspect refused to comply and fled the area.  Several units initiated a pursuit of the vehicle as it fled at a high rate of speed and drove recklessly through several intersections.  Investigating Officers quickly learned that there was no gun involved, the victim was not injured, and the victim did not want to press charges against the suspect.  Based on this information and the suspect's lack of due regard for public safety, the pursuit was terminated.

At approximately 1208 hours, the suspect vehicle was located in the area of Olsen Rd. and the 23 Freeway.  The driver (Cane Duran, 28 years old), a Simi Valley resident, was contacted and positively identified by officers as the suspect who fled from the scene.  He was also found to be driving while under the influence of alcohol.  Duran was arrested for Felony Evading (2800 VC), DUI (23152 VC), and Resisting Arrest (148 PC). He was transported to Ventura County Jail.
