Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of July 22-28, 2024
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were no robberies during the past week.
Residential Burglaries
There was one residential burglary during the past week.
On Monday, 07-22-24, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a residence on the 200 block of Hillside Boulevard was the victim of a residential burglary. The victim stated that when he came home, he noticed a lock that he doesn’t normally use was locked. As he attempted to open the front door, an unknown suspect opened it from inside. The victim asked the suspect to leave, but the suspect went into the victim’s bedroom, moved some items around, and then left, walking southbound on Hillside Boulevard. It is unknown how the suspect made entry into the residence. The suspect was described as a thin Hispanic male adult, approximately 5’9” tall, wearing a gray sweater and carrying a black backpack. The victim said his Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle, a black helmet, a social security card, a US passport, and his roommate’s laptop were taken. The motorcycle was later recovered on 07-23-24 and is the same vehicle mentioned in the Stolen Vehicles section below.
Commercial Burglaries
There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.
On Monday, 07-22-24, at approximately 1:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to PG&E on the 3000 block of Geneva Avenue on a report of a burglary. Two suspects stole approximately $1,000 worth of copper wiring. Both suspects hid in shrubbery. Eventually, the suspects, 26-year-old and 48-year-old Oakland residents, were located, arrested, and booked into jail for burglary and other offenses.
On Tuesday, 07-23-24, at approximately 2:50 a.m., GQ Smoke Shop, located on the 6100 block of Mission Street, was the victim of a commercial burglary by multiple unknown suspects. The suspects forced entry through the main entrance and stole approximately $20,000 worth of tobacco products and a cash register containing $150. The suspects fled in three separate vehicles: a black Dodge Challenger, a silver Infiniti Q50, and a silver Lexus RX350. A store employee said that he followed the vehicles, and a suspect emerged from the Dodge and brandished a firearm at him. The employee, fearing for his safety, reversed his vehicle to create distance from the suspect, who then reentered the Dodge. The suspects drove to San Francisco, where they were seen unloading stolen merchandise from the Lexus into the Dodge and Infiniti. Upon noticing the police, they abandoned the Lexus and left in the Dodge and Infiniti. The Lexus was later confirmed to be a stolen vehicle out of San Francisco. The cash register, with some coins, was found inside the trunk of the Lexus, and several cardboard boxes of tobacco products were discovered lying on the ground. One suspect was described as a light-complexioned male, approximately 5’9”-6’2” tall, wearing a black ski mask, gray and black gloves, a black hoodie, black jeans, and black and white shoes with a yellow or gold design. Another suspect was described as a thin Black male, approximately 5’7”-5’10” tall, wearing a black ski mask, a tan fleece hoodie, dark-colored gloves, tan fleece pants, and black shoes. A third suspect was described as a heavyset male, approximately 5’9”-6’2” tall, wearing a black ski mask, a black hoodie, gloves, black jeans, and black shoes. A fourth suspect was described as a thin and tall male, wearing a black ski mask, a black hoodie, black gloves, black jeans, and black and white shoes. A fifth suspect was described as a male wearing a black ski mask, dark-colored gloves, a light grey fleece top, light grey sweatpants, and black shoes. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
