Hawaii Island police are asking the public’s assistance in locating two overdue hikers who were last seen it the lower Leilani Estates area on July 31, 2024.

The missing Big Island men were last seen hiking in the lava field makai of the lower portion of Leilani Estates, in Pahoa, on Wednesday July 31, 2024.

The two men, 48-year-old Halii Anderson, of Pahoa, and 39-year-old Kasey Bell of Mountain View, went hiking at 5:00 p.m. on July 31, informing their families they would return on Thursday August 1, at 8:30 a.m.  When they failed to return, family members reported them missing to police at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1.

Anderson is described as Hawaiian with a dark complexion, medium build, 5-feet 7-inches tall, 210 pounds, bald with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black shirt, and blue pants.

Bell is described as Caucasian, medium build, 6-feet tall, 189 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. Bell was last seen wearing a black tank top shirt and blue shorts.

Police ask anyone with information on Bell and Anderson's whereabouts to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
