Voluntary water use requested. Water customers are requested to practice water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use.
The City of Montgomery is requesting an immediate voluntary reduction in water usage. Most of you know that Water Well 2 has been down since August 2023. Yesterday, Water Well 3 went down and is being investigated at this time. The entire City of Montgomery is being served from Water Well 4 alone right now. This is our biggest and newest well in the system, but we have no redundancy for water production at this time. This well produces enough water to prevent us from activating a mandatory reduction through our Drought Contingency Plan per City Ordinance 90-192 therefore we are asking for a voluntary reduction. Well 4 is the Catahoula Aquifer well which produces a much warmer and softer water. We are working to maintain temperatures but be advised that you might see an increase in water temperature until we are able to get Well 3 back online. This is a serious situation we are in right now and we need your help to get through this. If Well 4 were to go down right now there would be no way to provide water throughout the entire city.
Instructions:
Voluntary water use requested.
