For Release Time 6:30 pm EST Date: August 3, 2024 Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management VOLUNTARY EVACUATION ORDER FOR LOW LYING AREAS AND MOBILE/MODULAR HOMES AND RV’S IN JEFFERSON COUNTY Jefferson County, Florida – August 3, 2024. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management is issuing a voluntary evacuation order for: Mobile/modular Homes and RV’s Low Lying Flood Prone Areas Jefferson County emergency management officials are asking those residents to make plans to evacuate at your discretion, to a relative or friend’s home outside of the affected area. Debby is expected to reach Hurricane strength when it makes landfall resulting in potential high winds and heavy rains causing flooding in low lying areas. It is important to note that if wind speeds reach a sustained speed of 35 miles an hour, NO Emergency Vehicles will be on the road. Before you leave: • Lock all doors and windows and put on shutters if necessary. • Turn off all appliances, faucets and LP gas tanks. • Bring a 3-5 day supply of personal hygiene, water and food items with you in case debris or power outages at your home prevent your return.
