South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka announced today that a 24-year-old Edison man has been charged with Attempted Murder in connection to a stabbing Saturday morning. On Saturday at 1:19 am South Brunswick Police received a 911 call of a dispute on James Avenue. Officer Sean Nally, Officer Robert Marrese, and Officer Ken English arrived and found an adult male suffering multiple stab wounds. Officers questioned witnesses who indicated there was a dispute between two people and the male had been stabbed. Officers identified Dante Wright age 24 of Edison as the suspect. Wright was still on the scene and arrested.
The investigation determined that Wright and the male victim knew each other. During the dispute, Wright used a pocket knife to stab the victim several times. The victim was taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition.
Wright was charged with Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Aggravated Assault. He was lodged in the Middlesex County Correction Center pending his detention hearing.
