Flood Advisory until 06:45PM

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following county, Fairfield, northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union, and southeast New York, including the following counties, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 645 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing of poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 438 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms just off to the west moving east. Minor flooding will occur quickly in the advisory area. - Rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.2 inches are expected over the area. This rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Newark, Jersey City, Yonkers, Elizabeth, Flatbush, New Rochelle, Flushing, Bayonne, White Plains, Mott Haven, Hoboken, Plainfield, East Tremont, Linden, Port Chester, Coney Island, Summit, Lyndhurst, Secaucus and Rye. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
