Arrest Made in Sunday Homicide of Pregnant Female
A 37-year-old pregnant female was found murdered in her home. Boyfriend arrested after he immediately flees to Southern California.
San Mateo, CA – On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 6:01pm, San Mateo Police were called to a home on the 1300 block of S. B St. on report of a pregnant female who was in “full arrest”. We were also requested for crowd control as several family members were on scene and despondent. Upon arrival, we met with paramedics who informed us the 37-year-old female victim, who was approximately 9 months pregnant, was pronounced deceased with obvious signs of death present, as was the unborn child. During the preliminary investigation, witness statements and evidence found at the scene led detectives to determine the victim’s live-in boyfriend was the likely suspect in this suspicious death. He was not present at the location upon our arrival, however, attempts to locate him were immediately made.
Using various means of technology available to us, we were able to begin to track the suspect’s whereabouts and develop a plan to take him into custody. It was determined the suspect had left the shared home at some point after the death and was traveling by vehicle towards Southern California. SMPD Detectives requested the assistance of various Southern California law enforcement agencies to include California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department. The vehicle was subsequently located by West Covina Police Department and the suspect was arrested on several on-view charges.
Within 5 hours of discovering this tragic scene, several search/arrest warrants were written and the suspect, identified as Andrew Coleman, was in custody. San Mateo Police Officers have since flown to Southern California to interview Coleman. The investigation is on-going.
