El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from July 21st – July 27th.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 21st – July 27th.

July 21st
Grand Theft – 6612 Schmidt Ln.
At 8:24 AM, a victim reports the theft of their catalytic converter sometime overnight.

Robbery / Brandish a Firearm / Resisting a Peace Officer – 11939 San Pablo Ave. (Home Depot):
At 3:38 hours, a suspect was arrested for armed robbery. The suspect fled from police and was later located. The suspect failed to comply with police orders and was apprehended by a police K9 unit. The suspect was medically treated and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 22nd
Resisting Arrest / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Theft or Misappropriation of Lost Property – Cypress Ave. / South 56th St.
At 2:24 AM, officers attempted to stop a bicyclist. Initially the bicyclist fled and was placed under arrest. The subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and stolen property. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later released on a citation.

Fraud – 10900 San Pablo Ave. (ECPD Lobby):
At 1:48 PM, a victim came to the police department to make a report of fraud.

July 23rd
Auto Burglary – 6500 block of Portola Dr.
At 7:56 AM, an officer reports the victim had their vehicle broken into and property was taken from inside.

Robbery – 10680 San Pablo Ave. (O’Reillys):
At 5:43 PM, a victim reports they were robbed of their gaming console during a transaction of selling the console.  The suspects fled from the area prior to police arrival.

July 24th
Warrant Arrest / Possession of Prescription Drugs – 11555 San Pablo Ave.
At 3:53 AM, officers conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested an occupant for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription.  The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Attempted Vehicle Theft – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1:03 PM, a victim reports a suspect attempted to steal their motorcycle.

July 25th
Driving Under the Influence – Lassen St. / Belmont Ave.
At 3:38 AM, officers conducted an traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober friend.

July 25th
Robbery / Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 300 block of Carmel Ave.
At 6:33 AM, a victim reports they were robbed of their property. The suspects also assaulted the victim with a firearm and fled the area prior to police arrival. 

Residential Burglary – 6400 block of Hagen Blvd.
At 11:20 AM, the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door and stole multiple items.

Robbery / Battery on a Peace Officer / Warrant – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky)
At 2:00 PM, a suspect robbed the store of merchandise and was placed under arrest. Further investigation found the suspect to have a warrant for their arrest. While escorting the suspect to the police patrol vehicle, the suspect kicked the officer. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 26th
Robbery – Hill St. / San Pablo Ave.
At 3:31 PM, a suspect struck the victim and took their cellular device.

Grand Theft from Person – 3400 block of Belmont Ave.
At 4:32 PM, an officer reports a victim’s jewelry was taken after the suspect approached, hugged the victim, and while hugging switched the necklace.

July 27th
Warrant Arrest – 1700 block of Liberty St.
At 12:31 PM, an officer conducted a suspicious persons check and arrested a suspect who had two warrants.  The suspect was arrested and released with a citation on scene.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd.
At 11:54 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During a DUI investigation, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober guardian.
