Tropical Storm Debby update as of 8 a.m., August 6, 2024
As of 8 a.m., today, August 6, our area remains under the following watches and warnings: Tropical Storm Warning, Storm Surge Warning, Flash Flood Warning, and Flood Watch.
The National Weather Service continues to forecast potentially historic rainfall and flooding through at least Friday morning. Tropical Storm Debby is a slow-moving storm with water being the main concern with rainfall, storm surge, and flooding.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office remains in constant contact with local, state, and national agencies regarding Tropical Storm Debby and her impacts on our area.
Since yesterday afternoon, we’ve received dozens of storm-related calls with downed trees, downed power lines, and flooded roads.
Please DO NOT drive through flooded roads. Remember that saying, “Turn around. Don’t drown”. You never know exactly how deep the flood waters are and they pose danger to you and your safety.
We continue to encourage you to stay off the roads unless you must travel.
