Crystal Lake - Water Quality Advisory
Recent water quality testing on Crystal Lake reveals a high-density Algae bloom. Following State guidance, contact with the water in Crystal Lake should be avoided (humans and pets). Indicators point to the combination of high temperatures, little rainfall and little water movement as the likely cause for the bloom.
Crystal Lake will be treated for the bloom again tomorrow, Wednesday, August 7th. This treatment, combined with cooler temperatures and rain forecast for the remainder of the week, should decrease the algae level.
We will send out a follow-up notification via our e-blast when the water quality level in the lake returns to a level safe for contact with the water.
All other lakes and ponds in the Borough are also continuously tested. None of our other water bodies are exhibiting levels of algae that require any advisory.
