Emergency crews are asessing damage and flooding at this time. The City of Hardeeville is currently between rain bands but we are expecting heavier rains later this afternoon.that will continue. We ask that you stay inside unless you absolutley have to go out. If you are out and see roads that are impassable because of down trees, flooding or power lines please let us know..You can use the Hardeeville Hears and Helps on our website. https://hardeevillesc.gov/2621/Hardeeville-Hears-and-Helps-Citizen-Port .Currently we are aware of flooding on Walsh Drive, The McTeer area, John Smith and Highway 17, Deerfield Village, amd Moorer and Burke.Remember, turn around don't drown.

Sand is available in Hardeeville and Ridgeland. We now have sandbags available with a limit of 5 bags per household due to limited resources. If you bring your own sandbags, you may fill 10 bags per household. You will need to bring your own shovels to fill the sandbags.

In Ridgeland, sand can be acquired at 456 Grays Highway.
In Hardeeville, sand can be acquired at 205 Main Street.

Sandbags are generally made of burlap or woven polypropylene. In urgent situations some alternative solutions are thick grocery store bags or pillowcases. It is recommended to use zip ties to secure bags, place the bag or pillowcase inside of another bag or pillowcase. At the very least, homemade options can help stop or lessen water damage temporarily. If you are unable to make it to the locations, and elect to use alternative materials, consider materials such as cat litter, dirt, potting mix, gravel or blankets. You want the alternative filling to be water absorbent. These are not optimal solutions; however, they potentially reduce or stop water damage.
