Storm Warning / Short Term Detailed Forecast
Bergen County OEM is continuing to monitor a rain event that is expected to affect our area beginning Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Current forecasts showing a slow moving front bringing showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals over the expected event will bring 1 inch with some isolated areas reaching 2 inches.
BCOEM is also monitoring the potential impacts of tropical storm Debby. Weather impacts from this system depend on how the tropical moisture feeds into the cold front moving into the area. NWS reporting there is uncertainty on impacts to our regions and will have higher forecast confidence as Debby’s track is better defined. Timing and impacts may change.
Keep in mind, the already saturated ground and elevated streams from our recent weather impacts. Runoff is expected to cause some flash flooding of small creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. Urban flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas is possible. We will continue to monitor this situation and issue updates as necessary.
Be Prepared for a Flood
